• Give Me the Ball

    / Comments (0)

Wieden + Kennedy Shanghai just finished up this new spot for Nike. The spot centers on the hopes of a young baller based in China and his dreams of going pro, getting the contract and passing the rock with the giants of the game. The ad was directed by Stacy Wall of Imperial Woodpecker and edited by Whitehouse Post. You can see a complete credit list after the jump.

  • Wheeler's Dry Gin

Packaging design is always one of the most fun, and most challenging, types of projects to work with. When it's done right, though, it can be a thing of beauty. We're really loving this label for Wheeler's Dry Gin designed by Kristin Casaletto and co at Sasquatch.

The delicate botanical flourish coupled with the structured look of the compass rose (A nod to George Wheeler, a prominent figure in early New Mexico geographical history) off set each other perfectly. The real highlight to this label, though, has to be the silver foil typography and elements set against a jet black background. It's starkly perfect.

SEMI-PERMANENT 2013 TITLES from Danny Yount on Vimeo.

If you were one of the fortunate to have attended Semi-Permanent last week you likely noticed the titles that were done to support the event. The conference contracted the amazing talent of Danny Yount, whose portfolio reads like a who's who of film titling, to create a series of visuals for the event. Shot on a 5D MKII and built in After Effects.

CARMA PROJECT from B-Cultura da Bicicleta on Vimeo.

Finally, a new life for old cars — as bicycles. This short features info on the CARMA Project, which took a group of Portuguese bike designers and gave them the opportunity to re-purpose an old four wheel transportation system into a two wheel one. The resulting bike is pretty cool. It definitely looks like a bike but has some qualities from its previous life. You can check out more on this project on the CARMA Project website.

Apparently there are some things tablets just can't do. Leo Burnett was the brainchild behind this humorous spot.

  • Adidas Silas II

    / Comments (0)

Adidas designer, Danny Kinley, recently worked on the development of the second signature shoe for skateboarder, Silas Baxter Neal. Appropriately named, the Silas II, the shoe is a low top beauty. We love the color palette of the shoe and the solid look of the shoe. The shoe was inspired by Silas' love of the outdoors and the street skating life that is a part of it. If you want to know a bit more about Kinley and his work with Adidas, then check out this interview over on Trash Filter.

  • Geronimo

We're digging these deck designs by Alan Wasem. The two decks; featuring iconic native american leader, Geronimo; were done for a group show in Hood River not too long ago. The decks are the product of a purely analog process (remember those). Alan took illustrations of Geronimo that he had created, photocopied them, colored them, collaged them and then wheat pasted them onto the surface of the deck. We love the result, and really like the fact that the computer played, literally, zero part in creating this work.
