Hibou Blaster / A Very Unusual Map / Official music video from BBBlaster on Vimeo.

Hand drawn type, quirky animation style. All the elements coalesce and come together for us in this new video for Hibou Blaster's song, A Very Unusual Map. The animation and direction duties were expertly handled by Loup Blaster. His animation style is perfectly matched with the subtle, low-fi soundscapes of Hibou Blaster's music.

Talk about taking the high road. When Brazilian menswear brand, Reserva, experienced a flash mob style robbery at one of their retail stores, they decided to go with it. They took the surveillance footage of the robbery and created a spot for an upcoming clearance sale. As the thieves are making off with items the film will pause to highlight the various types of clothing on sale (“jeans”, “shorts”, etc). There's no need to break the window. Just come on in.

We are digging on these water color illustrations by Portland's, Brad Simon. This motley assortment of athletes are part of Simon's Most Likely Too Fail series. I think we know a couple of those guys. Check out Brad's other work on his website, Brad Simon Art. There's a Gary Baseman-esque quality to his art that we really like.

Brazilian illustrator, Marcelo Schultz, was commissioned by Nike to create a piece inspired by the Air Max line. The result was this set of beautifully rendered set of custom type featuring Nike's classic mantra. Marcelo's layered and shaded glyphs are expertly crafted. You can see his attention to detail in the sketches he created.. We really like that he documented (and shared) his process through a series of photos. We love getting to peek behind the curtain.

This clip from Jobs, the upcoming movie about the late Steve Jobs, was premiered on E, and honestly, we want to like this film. We really do. Our one point of skepticism, which really wasn't done away with by seeing this, is the casting of Ashton Kutcher to play Jobs. I guess we'll have to wait to see when the movie officially drops in April.

  • Pushing their Buttons

Turner Broadcasting, which is known for its big drama titles like Law and Order recently launched in Sweden. To commemorate their arriving, the network decided to re-visit their viral video sensationfrom last year in which passersby unleash a torrent of dramatic events by pushing a red button that simply reads, “adds drama”. The new, more elaborate stunt is cut from the same stuff, but this edition actually abducts the button pushers and delivers them into the center of a full blown prison riot. Yikes!

We have a new entry on our very long list of favorites. Swedish illustrator, Mattias Adolfsson, recently posted spreads out of his sketchbooks giving us a small view into his intricate and detailed world. The subject matter is quirky, which is right up our alley and the style is really innocent and fun — another quality that greatly appeals to us. Mattias has an amazing array of work worth checking out. His blog is a great collection of drawings paintings and ephemera, in addition to little snippets of his life in Sweden.
