Internet Archive from Deepspeed media on Vimeo.

This is a stellar documentary about the work of The Internet Archive project. If you're not familiar with their work, the IAP strives to document and store everything the internet has to offer. It's an ambitious project, but they have some crazy cool stuff in their database. The 13 minute piece does a great job of introducing the viewer to that project and some of the constraints / problems with managing a digital library of this size (10 petabytes worth of data). This short is right up our alley as we spend a lot of time thinking about archiving and storing data for future compatibility. The piece was Directed by Jonathan Minard of Deepseed Media and produced by the Internet Archive.

Have you seen this uber cute online comic from newsletter company aficionados, Mailchimp? Th' Adventoorz of Freddie & Mannie chronicles the friendship of this fun loving monkey and Baboon. We really like how the comic incorporates animation along with the static panels. The art style is super vector madness, and we love it. Check out ishoo 1, and hopefully there will be more to follow.

The Sketchbook Project Mobile Library from Art House Co-op on Vimeo.

The Sketchbook Project mobile tour is set to roll out shortly. This amazing project that has been rolling on for the past few years and has garnered thousands of sketchbooks from all over the world. The project is simple. You pay a few shekels, get a sketchbook, do your doodles and then mail it back to Sketchbook Project HQ. The book is then given a barcode and is integrated into the Brooklyn Library where it can then be checked out by interested parties.

The library goes out on tour each year making the rounds across America and sharing the sketchbooks while fostering the love of art. We can't wait to see if they will descend upon Portland this year.

Made by Hand / No 4 The Cigar Shop from Made by Hand on Vimeo.

Here's a new short documentary in the Made by Hand series. The series highlights makers and how their hand-made creations impact their lives. This installment explores Don Antonio Martinez's 2nd generation hand rolled cigar shop. The business is now run by Martinez's sons who maintain the tradition of creating quality, hand rolled cigars. The black and white stock creates the perfect setting for this documentary and contrasts so nicely with the stark white clouds of smoke from the cigars that are being consumed throughout the piece.

  • Zachary Quinto vs. Leonard Nimoy: "The Challenge"

This is fairly humorous if you're any type of Trek fan. The rivalry between Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy is a new one, but could be interesting if explored further. Nimoy by far is the star in this web film for Audi. His dialogue and deadpan delivery is great. This spot was put together by pmk-bnc.

We're still trying to figure out if this is really as extra-ordinary as they claim it to be?
