Patrice Martin is a lead designer at IDEO, a well known and respected global design firm that takes a human-centered, design-based approach to helping people and organizations. Martin will be talking about the role of design for the developing world and how design is used to improve the lives of people in low-income communities.

*Proceeds from the Patron tickets will help build Global Envision's collection of appropriate technology tools. Used in the Action Center's education programs and on view in the center's gallery from time to time, items such as cooking stoves, birthing kits, water filters, irrigation systems, solar-powered cell phones, adjustable liquid-lens eye glasses exemplify both the challenges and design solutions of the developing world. Global Envision is a program of Mercy Corps, a nonprofit organization.
