It looks like Kmart is riding on the success of the “ship my pants” spot and expanding it to include “big gas” savings. These unorthodox spots are getting people to take notice. Is Kmart finally making a push to comeback? Draftfcb took the creative reins on this spot.

Microsoft is looking to get the parent vote support for its Windows phones. This kid asks a lot of questions. Our vote for the best / most creepy question asked has to be, "What's a stretch mark?". Yikes. We wonder if you can really find the answer to that particular question in the new Kids Corner panel on the Windows phone? If so, that really would be a thorough education. Credits after the jump.

Are you an M83 fan? We most definitely are. We were immediately drawn to this self-initiated project by design student Julie Lesseg. When we first came across this we were really hoping this was the real deal because it just looks great. We actually kind of this would be a welcome addition, visually, to the French shoegazers catalog.

  • Photographer Rä di Martino Locates and Photographs Original Star Wars Film Sets

    / Comments (0)

New York-based photographer Rä di Martino has just completed work on a project photographing the rarely seen original Tatooine sets from Star Wars. The photographs, taken in Tunisia, are fantastic and provide a great view of the wear and decay that have taken place after 35 years of abandonment. There are a few images, however, where so little wear seems to have happened that you almost expect to see a bantha or stormtrooper walk across the frame.

The most amazing part of this story is how di Martino located the sets. She utilized Google Earth satellite photos to locate the precise location, something that until now was only really known by locals. These amazing photos have been collected into a couple of photographic collections (in which she has also included photos of other Star Wars sets) entitled, “No More Stars” and “Every World’s a Stage”.

  • RESOURCE: Flat UI Colors

    / Comments (0)

We haven't done a resource share in a while (we really should do more of these), but we wanted to pass along this nifty little site / web app. With all the craziness over the rise of flat design, you may be looking for a quick place to grab some of the common, popular colors that have been making waves during the rise of this visual language.

Flat UI Colors is a small, extremely east to use web application that allows you to select and copy the primary flat colors for use in your design. What we really like about it is besides being able to copy a standard hex number, you can also copy RGB and RGBA values as well. This makes it a handy tool to quickly grab a needed value and drop it in any application you might need it in.

This useful little app is courtesy of designer / developer Ahmet Sulek from Istanbul.
