Star Wars Uncut: The Empire Strikes Back

It's hard to deny the effect that the Star Wars franchise has had on our society and culture. The six films have spawned a legion of fan boys since its original release in the 70's. Many of those fans have been so moved by the Lucas' vision that they have been compelled to grab their video cameras and remake their favorite scenes using any and every medium available to them.

In 2009 Casey Pugh, a creative technologist, took on the task of organizing those fans and their footage into 15 second clips. With the permission of the fans and the blessing of Lucas himself, Pugh then re-cut the entire third film, A New Hope using nothing but fan footage. It was an amazing achievement, which was so popular it earned Pugh an Emmy.

Well, Casey and his team are back, and they've released the trailer for The Empire Strikes Back. We're incredibly excited to see this when it's done. It's a testament to the creativity of some seriously dedicated fans and a tribute to one of the greatest film franchises ever made. You can follow all the details on the upcoming release on the official movie site.
