By The Portland Egotist / / We just ran through this amazing short documentary about Gangolf Ulbricht, one of the last handcrafted papermakers in the world. Ulbricht makes a series of tree-free papers for a variety of creative clients types including international artists, conservators, photographers, and printers. It’s amazing to watch him work and the knowledge he has of the papermaking process. It’s a bit sad to think about this craft fading away, but as with so many amazing craft processes, we’re walking away from a rich and beautiful trade that will probably not exist in another 10-20 years. Thanks to Kings and Kongs for capturing a bit of history.
