WordPress has become a staple of the web design community. The content management framework at last count was responsible for powering 30% of the top 10 million sites—making it one of the most successful web design and development platforms in history. The newest version of the software, lovingly dubbed “Bebo”, sports some hefty modifications to its previous incarnations. The new short spot for WordPress 5.0 explores the versatility and flexibility of the new UI allowing users to create more out of the box. Concepts like responsive design and complex pattern creation are now touted to be baked right into the interface—allowing users to do more without needing to know how to code. This is a giant departure from previous interface functionality and one that has made many in the WordPress development community a tad nervous. We’ll have to see how things shake out over time, but this could mark a large turning point in how content management systems function and provide tools for the future of the web.
