Liquid Death, the canned-water company with the “murder your thirst” tagline, kicks off summer putting its new flavors head-to-head in blind taste tests with the most expensive, premium liquids on the planet. They tapped Hey Wonderful director Sam Cadman, renowned for his award-winning real people / hidden camera campaigns, to direct taste testers sampling high-end liquids such as Beluga Caviar ($580), Imported Squid Ink ($58), Liquified Wagyu Cheeseburger ($51) and Lobster Béarnaise Sauce ($40). In the end, 17 out of 17 participants chose Liquid Death over the alternative.
“I love messing with real people and the Liquid Death gang were into this 200%,” said Hey Wonderful director Sam Cadman. “In fact, they have to be the most METAL client I’ve ever met, which was a joy. Mike [Cessario] and Andy [Pearson] kept pushing and I was more than happy to turn it up to 11. I knew we were making something special when my Art Director, who I‘ve worked with for many years, was crying with laughter as he blended another $51 cheeseburger. Honestly, the best taste test I’ve ever been a part of – some of those reactions will be etched into my memory for years to come!”
Liquid Death is the No. 5 most followed beverage brand, with more followers than Coke and Pepsi. It’s flavors – including Severed Lime, Mango Chainsaw and Berry It Alive – are naturally sweetened with agave and created to bridge the gap between bland 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugar sparkling water and unhealthy soft drinks.
As part of the #DeathToPlastic initiative, Liquid Death donates a portion of proceeds to charitable causes and nonprofits that are providing safe drinking water to communities around the world where it is not immediately available and cleaning up plastic garbage out of the ocean.
