• Marvel’s Behind the Mask

    by / February 9, 2021 /

From the very inception of comic books, secret identities have been an integral part of both super heroes and villains leading “normal” lives. But it’s the characters beneath that resonate within us across generations of fans. Since the advent of the Marvel Age of Comics in the early 1960s, Marvel’s writers and artists have used the notion of identities to examine the evolving concept of equal rights. Marvel’s documentary Behind the Mask will feature guests from across Marv[Read More]

  • The Missing Link Has Been Found

    by / February 11, 2019 /

Portland's animation powerhouse, Laika, has just jumped back on the scene with the second trailer for their newest animated offering, Missing Link. In true Laika form, the short spot appears to be another animated bit of magical goodness. Unlike Laika's past offerings this one seems to be a bit more mainstream and less quirky than what we saw in Kubo or ParaNorman, yet it also retains that ever familiar[Read More]

  • Matthew Seely Animation Reel 2018

    by / December 3, 2018 /

Some fairly solid work from Portland animator, Matthew Seely. His 2018 reel spans some solid animation work and styles. We were really liking the classic feel of the work he presented and the fact that Seely seems to be more of what we would think of as a classic animator—no mo-graph, just solid animation work. Don't get us wrong, we love motion graphics big time, but it is nice to see a reel that focuses on just one thing (anim[Read More]

Portland agenies, Psyop and W+K, recently teamed up to create this street-inspired short spot for Coca-Cola. Despite the playful nature of this piece, it was a serious undergoing (just look at the credit list) with a couple dozen creatives jumping into the fray to get this animated piece produced. The result is solid and has that unique, quirky feel that PDX seems to lend so much of the work out there these d[Read More]

  • Animator, Matt Seely’s New Reel Shows Wide Range of Talent

    by / June 21, 2018 /

Animator, Matt Seely, recently dropped his 2018 animation role. His work is a throwback to mid 90's to 2000's style animation. What we especially appreciated is that all the work contained in his reel is the result of work he did on his own. In an age where we generally need to rely on a crew of people to get anything done, it's nice to know the one man show still exists out there.

  • Travel Portland and House Special Share All the Wonderful Things that Make Portland, Portland

    by / June 13, 2018 /

Travel Portland always seems to creatively step out on the ledge—hiring creative companies that do a great job of showing PDX in that just so "Quirky" kind of light that we all love to bask in. House Special worked with Travel Portland on this great series of 30 second animated looping sequences highlighting various bits of the Rose City. We love the fact that they included the naked bike ride. That's extremely Portland. The work was part of a Trav[Read More]
